ECO Hub

Our school’s ECO Hub is a dedicated centre for environmental education and action, as we continue our ECO journey. We are working on a variety of programs, initiatives and partnerships to make our school more sustainable and environmentally aware.

ECO Schools Programme

We are actively participating in the global ECO Schools Program, which guides us in improving our school’s environmental impact. Our ECO Committee, made up of students, teachers and site managers meet regularly to set goals and track our progress.

Forest Schools and Outdoor Learning

Our students have the chance to experience nature first-hand through outdoor learning sessions. Activities include nature walks, tree identification, pond dipping and building habitats. These session’s help students develop a deep appreciation for nature and understand how ecosystems work.

School Garden and Outdoor Spaces

Our ECO Hub is proud of our flourishing school garden, developed in collaboration with the gardening club and FFR. Students grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, learning about sustainable gardening practices. The garden also serves as a sanctuary for pollinators with bee-friendly plants and insect hotels to support local wildlife.

Recycling and Zero Waste Initiatives

Through partnerships with local recycling organisations, our school aims to reduce our carbon footprint. The eco-committee have introduced recycling bins across the school for paper and plastic. We have food waste bins in the canteen and hope to create a composting system in our garden to reduce food waste and turn it into healthy soil for our plants.

Environmental Awareness / Assemblies

We host assemblies on important topics like climate change, biodiversity and sustainable living, often featuring guest speakers / visitors from environmental organisations. These events inspire our students to take action.

Community Partnerships

The ECO Hub also connects with the wider community, working with local businesses, council and environmental charities to support green projects. This includes tree planting events, community clean-ups, and promoting sustainability beyond the school grounds.
